An unexpected stranger catches her eye as they walk down the street, a rather handsome a capella singer amongst the others in the quartet. He catches her staring and begins to sing to her.It would go on like this for days after, until one day she walked up to him, playfully plucked the hat from his head and ran over behind the wall of the next building.Teasing him, she refused to give it back. "M’aam, if you don’t hand that over I’m afraid I’m gonna have to ask you out on a date. Now, I don’t think you’d want that."She smiles and places the hat on her head, "where we goin’?"
Though they both understand that she’s already engaged, they fall in love. A month later Hans returns, just as the military begins to hastily recruit every able bodied young man to help in the war. He catches word of Anna’s little afair, and makes sure a service letter finds its way to Kristoff’s doorstep, telling him he is being recruited to fight.

Develop a healthy relationship with food. If you’re hungry, eat. If you’re full, don’t eat. Eat vegetables to be good to your body, but eat ice cream to be good to your soul.

Take pictures of yourself frequently. Chronicle your life. Selfies are completely underrated. Even if the pictures are unflattering, keep them anyway. There will always be mountains and cities and buildings, but you will never look the same way as you did in that one moment in time.

Your worth does not depend on how desirable someone finds you. Spend less time in front of the mirror and more time with people who make you feel beautiful.

Close doors. Don’t hold onto things that no longer brings you happiness and do not help you grow as a person. It is okay to walk away from toxic relationships. You are not weak for letting go.

Forgive yourself. We all have something in our pasts that we are ashamed of, but they only weigh us down if we allow them to. Make amends with the old you and work every day to become the person that you’ve always wanted to be.

This is one of two semi-intact rooms left in the crumbling Doctors’ Cottage from Riverside Hospital, the famed quarantine hospital housed on North Brother Island, once home to “Typhoid” Mary Mallon.  Reaching it involves choosing a way into the building - whether through a door or a missing wall - and then climbing staircases that bend under one’s feet, the railings long gone, and across landings that lead to nowhere but holes in the side of the building.  The reward is this scene - and it’s totally worth all the hassle.
